"Sometimes I want to disappear and see if anyone would
miss me."
The words flowed from my computer breaking the heavy silence
with the strength and power that only a sentence like that could accomplish. As I sat
riveted in my chair, those haunting words captured my attention, making it hard
to tear my gaze away from the screen.
I had just logged online when I found
them attached to a picture posted to a social media site. I studied those words
for what seemed like hours, trying to imagine the person who wrote them. Why
did they want to disappear, what were they trying to escape from, and what was their support system like? Unable to come up with any logical answers, I
closed the lid on my laptop with a sigh, and tried to rein in the questions speeding
through my mind like a runaway roller coaster.
My heart's passion is to minister to women; I want to reach
out to those who are broken, hopeless, and lonely. I want to provide support to
those who might not otherwise have it.
I’ve spent a large majority of my ministry writing devotions, but recently I’ve realized I want more. The question I keep asking myself is how do I get it? What do I need to do in order to present the Hope I have?

Created to show God
Later on in the week I was reading Sharon Jaynes' new book
"A Sudden Glory." I had only made it to page nine when there it was,
the answer to my question of how to bring God to others. Mrs. Jaynes wrote
"You were created to make God recognizable to others---to show others what
God is like."
I was
created to show others what God is like? What a
powerful statement. It made me realize
that God does call His children to be His hands and feet. His Spirit is manifested through us, so it's
only natural that His character and light should shine from us too. Matthew
5:16 says to "let your light so
shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in
heaven." (NKJV)
The best way to let our light shine is to become as much
like Christ as possible. I want to lose myself in Him to the point that people
no longer recognize me; they will only see Him. I want the world to know that
He is the only reason for my hope. (1 Peter 3:15)
'And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and
acceptable and perfect will of God.' (Romans 12:2 NKJV)
Father,
I give my life to You daily; I want it to be about You and only You. May I always allow Your love to shine through me so the world will be able to see and know You.
In Jesus’ name I pray,
AmenI give my life to You daily; I want it to be about You and only You. May I always allow Your love to shine through me so the world will be able to see and know You.
In Jesus’ name I pray,
Salina
I wrote this devotion as part of a challenge that my friend Anita and I gave to ourselves. The challenge was to pick a quote, and each write a 500 word devotion, using the same quote as inspiration. I invite you to visit Anita's website, Scattering the Stones Ministry, and read her wonderful post- Created for His glory - my purpose. Please leave a comment to let her know how it blessed you.
I highly recommend Sharon Jaynes new book, available in stores now
